Caroline Ashley is a British emerging artist based in London. Her practice explores assemblage, soft sculpture; referencing repetition and hand driven processes. Textiles and fabrics are at the forefront, working intuitively; collecting, thinking through her hands, using vibrant found objects. Material exploration and literacy, leads to unmaking and remaking, assembling and reassembling, materialising and dematerialising.
“My recent body of work explores the knotted relationships between textiles, pattern and computational technology. I construct textile assemblages; stitching and knotting tactile materials together alongside unframed digital screens and fragments of mirror; networking the hard, the soft, the digital and the physical.”
Ashley recently graduated with a Masters in Sculpture at the Royal College of Art in 2023 and obtained a First Class BA Honours in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art in 2022.
